All Hands on Deck!!We are once again organizing a Hopkinton town wide Cub Scout Sleepover.Battleship Cove's Nautical Nights Program include a knot tying class, storyteller, living history presenter, major motion pictures, and Morse Code class. The trip has enabled the scouts to better understand and appreciate the sacrifices made by veterans of all military branches in all wars. http://www.battleshipcove.org/overnights.asp CostAdults - $55 (Each scout is required to have at least one parent attend.) Checks are due by the next Pack Meeting on Thursday, January 17th. These spaces will fill quickly, so please respond asap so that it may give us time to request additional spaces if necessary. We will see the USS Massachusetts, a famous World War II Battleship of the U.S. Navy, permanently moored on the water in Fall River, Massachusetts. For those of us, who made the trip a few years ago, we can tell you the kids love it and both the parents and kids will never forget it. In addition to being able to tour and sleep on the Massachusetts, tours at no extra cost are available of the nearby docked destroyer Joseph P. Kennedy Jr., submarine Lionfish, PT Boats the 617 & 796. Battleship Cove serves as the Commonwealth's official memorial for Massachusetts citizens of all militarybranches who lost their lives in World War II, and the Korean, Vietnam and Persian Gulf conflicts, and most recently, the Commonwealth's victims of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. Preserving five National Historic Landmark naval vessels, Battleship Cove also delivers educational programs that expose a national audience of 60,000 youths to a mission that promotes duty, honor and country.
