November Theme - Citizenship

What is Citizenship?

Contributing service and showing responsibility to local, state, and national communities. Citizenship is an obligation we all share as Cub Scouts and leaders. One of the key components of being a good citizen is helping others.

Some key points of citizenship include the following:
  • Know the names of the President and Vice President of the United States. 
  • Know the names of your state governor and heads of local government 
  • Respect the flag of the United States. 
  • Know and understand the Pledge of Allegiance. 
  • Know and understand our national anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.” 
  • Be a good neighbor. 
  • Obey laws and rules. 
  • Respect people in authority. 
  • Protect the environment and our national resources. 
  • Be helpful. Do a Good Turn for your family, school, or community.
 
In Cub Scout Pack 97 we are doing Good Turns in a couple of different ways. During the month of November we participate in Scouting for Food. All of the non-perishable items we collect in Scouting for Food are given to the Project Just Because Hopkinton Food Pantry. The PJB Food Pantry serves only Hopkinton residents and contributions from Scouting for Food help the food pantry to continue to serve people in our town.

This year, Cub Scout Pack 97 is also supporting a local family through Project Just Because by donating new items for the holidays. For information about this service project, including a list of needed items, please click here.
